Mosquito Magnet?
"We have a bad mosquito problem. There are two ponds near our house and the mosquitos in our yard are horrendous. I literally cant take the children outside. We went for a walk around the block and Harrison and Alexander now have bites on their face. Does anyone have a Mosquito Magnet? They are expensive and the reviews I have read are mixed. If so how long have you had it? I dont want to buy one and have it not working next year."

I have a ranch near a river and the mosquitos are plentiful. I purchased a magnet after my sister in law used one with great results. I have been using the one I purchased and am amazed at the results. Not only does it attract mosquitos, but other biting bugs as well. Hope that helps.
I purchased one in the spring of 2004 and had trouble starting it by the fall of 2004. I only had used about 2-3 tanks of propane. I bought the Commercial Pro model (their top of the line) for $895. I just contacted them and they said that since it was out of warranty that I could exchange it for $425 plus $19.99 return shipping. They will not even attempt to find out why mine won’t start and repair it at a resonable charge. With that kind of customer service I would not do business with them again! It says alot when a company stands behind what they sell and it says a whole lot more when they don’t. Buyer beware!
We moved to our new home in a river valley in late winter 2004 and bought a Mosquito Magnet that spring. They are very effective, catch lots of skeets, black flies & gnats. But - they howl. I mean, they really howl!
The company has been very good about replacing them, I’ve lost track if we are now on #4 or #5, all replaced at no cost to us. This one is now starting to howl also. Some of them kinda moan softly for a while, eventually they howl so loudly you can hear them from inside the house with all the doors & windos shut!
They really do help with the bugs ‘tho.
product works when it runs, but try to keepit running! GoodLuck! Tech support line refers you to website. website refers you to tech support line. No customer service what so ever. do yourself a favor and buy some spray!!
We’ve been thru 2 Libertys in 2 years. First one replaced free but next one cost $175. They work fine when they work.
No howling from our machines, they just DIE. Tech Support has been good so far.
I found this great place in California that repairs Mosquito Magnets. They figured out what the problem was within days of me sending it to them and they have free return shipping! www.MosquitoMagnetRepair.com is their website. I would definately recommend them.
we have two mosquito magnets, we live in the woods, with ahuge swamp behind, in Michigan and we could not be happier. We can sit on our deck by the pool at night for the first time in years.
what a find.
Hey talk about Mosquito Magnets… I just found a great place to buy refill for the attractant packets… It is on e-bay. the sellers ID is: fjp800. He is selling a refill kit. WOW! It is about time that someone came up with the idea! I paid $14.60 for a four refills of the Octenol attractant..AND the refilled attractant packet works GREAT! The item number of the item I purchase is: 170216533615 AND he gives out a FREE trouble shooting & repair manual!!!!!!
I have (had) a Mosquito Magnet, that quit working. Just sent it back, but found out they will not work it at any cost with a proof of purchase. I told them that I did care about warranty, but was told they still would not work on it.
I will not purchase another of there products.

I have a Mosquito Magnet Defender, When they work, they work very well. But mine stopped working (indicated by quick flashing of red light). And you can’t fix it yourself as they will only sell parts to certified repair shops. I had to take it to an authorized repair shop. Mine is 2+ years old and out of warrantee and just cost me $160 to get it fixed. I can get a new one for $260. I have a second unit just out of warrantee and it has stopped working as well, probably another $160. They are obviously poorly designed and the company does not care about customer service to charge so much to get it repaired. If you plan to buy one don’t expect it to last more than a year or 2.
Bought the defender last spring, unit uses propane, scent packages, and co2 to clear the nozzle. Estimated cost to run for the summer will be about $120-140 not including electricity. Unit is presently broken, due to the power supply, which they are sending out under warrenty (normally $35).
Unit works good, but not great, and dependability is an issue, should not have broken down after 3 months of use. The one year warranty should be extended, because you only get one summer of use, and I get the feeling that this unit is not very reliable.
It has “reduced” the mosquito population considerably, but takes a few weeks to catch up following a lot of rain, so it is isn’t all that useful if you’re planning a party following several days of rain. Unit was very expensive $300.
