Step 2 Toddler Swing Recall

There have been no injuries thus far, but the straps on these popular swings can break while a child is inside. Read more to find out how you can get your swing repaired by Step 2 -- free of charge.

Units: About 9,300

Manufacturer: The Step 2 Co., of Streetsboro, Ohio

Hazard: The straps on these swings could break, causing a child riding in the swing to fall to the ground and suffer injuries.

Incidents/Injuries: None reported.

Description: The recall includes toddler swings with model numbers 7336KR and 733604. The model numbers are located on a label on the back of the swings. The swings are made from green plastic and the red Step 2 logo is located on the front of the swing. The straps on the recalled swings are grey and blue colored.

Sold at: Toy and discount department stores nationwide from May 2003 through December 2004 for between $17 and $20.

Manufactured in: United States

Remedy: Consumers should stop using these swings and contact the firm to determine if their swing is involved in the recall. If it is, the firm will provide a free repair.

Hi,

My daugther one and a half years old broke a leg (femur) and was hospitalize in july 2005 when both of the ropes broke while she was in a step 2 toddler swing.

We contacted the compagny several time (step2) and the insurance compagny but they didn’t do anything; what should we do now.
