Discussion: Car Seats on a Charter Bus?

Thursday April 14, 2005
Forum member shockingpin1 says, "I am taking a group of students to King's Dominion on Saturday, and husband and Adam are going with me. I have to ride the bus with the students and I would like for them to be able to ride with me. It's a charter bus with a bathroom and VCR. I don't feel comfortable allowing Adam to ride if he's not secured in his carseat, but every charter bus I've been on doesn't have seatbelts. I am going to call the company and ask what I can do, but in the meantime, have any of you been faced with this situation? If so, what did you do?"

This is a troublesome issue. While it’s a fact that ordinary buses are a lot safer than cars, statistically speaking, it would certainly do a lot for your peace of mind to know the bus you were putting your children on was adequately equipped with safety belts.
