Giggles Bibs

Friday November 25, 2005
Goldfish Bib by GigglesToday, on this day of all shopping days, I'm starting a new feature to showcase parent-made or kid-inspired products, books or services.

I think this is important. First, how many times have you been with your child and thought, "Someone ought to invent something for this." It might have been a stroller that has a better turning radius, or something to battle your toddler's morning bed-head or a sling with a better fit. I know I did this often, yet I didn't act on the impulse. That's where the second part comes in: I am amazed at how these parents found a way to take their necessity and make it the mother of their inventions. It truly gives me warm fuzzies to think about these parents who have used their experience, good or bad, to make something that benefits other parents just like them and helps them make a living.

So today, I bring you Giggles Bibs (Buy Direct). These bibs are made my Jamie Hunt. She has a toddler who is a messy eater and she knows how to sew. She's come up with a bib that is not only functional in every sense of the word, but it's fashionable, too. The bibs are made of vinyl so you can wipe them clean or douse it in the sink -- no more waiting for bibs to come out of the dryer. I sat and messed with the velcro closure and opened and closed it roughly 200 times. It's not coming off. (Can you tell I've had that problem in the past?) The bibs also have a crumb-catching pocket to help keep your floor clean, if that's even possible with a toddler around. These bibs are special -- each one of them is handmade, and you can tell that attention is paid to detail.

Pictured here is the goldfish pattern, but there are several patterns available, including grass and flowers which are equally adorable.
