Baby's Death Renews Crib Recall

Thursday February 9, 2006
The Graco Aspen 3-in-1 crib was recalled previously in December, but just weeks ago, a baby died when the slats came out of the crib and his head became entrapped, causing him to suffocate. The Consumer Product Safety Commission originally recalled the crib because of this very risk and had received 14 reports of injuries.

Cribs with wooden mattress supports and with model number 8740KCW SC and serial number 2803 SC to 1605 are included in this recall. The model and serial number are printed on the envelope attached to the mattress support. Parents and caregivers, take note of this recall and if you have this crib, take action to keep your child from being injured or worse.

THANK YOU for posting ths message again. I have one of these cribs, and even though I registered it with the company, I was never notified. Is there somewhere I can check out other recalls to be sure my baby is safe?

Ummm…why do companies like this get away with this how come say it wasn’t reported the FIRST time they received a complaint!

Thanks for this very important information. My wife and I are expecting next month and I recently bought this crib for our baby. Now that I know about this recall, I will take the crib back and get another one.

Thank you for this information. My son’s dad bought one of this when we were expecting our son. We had to screw the wooden slats in so that they wouldn’t fall again on him. He was jumping up and down in his crib when they fell on him, resulting in his father to screw in all the slats making them safer. If we had known about the recall of his crib at the time we would have contacted the company at the time. We also but his crib back in 2004.
