Toddler Aspirates Metal Screw, Nearly Dies

Wednesday March 22, 2006
Lung Diseases Guide Stacy Lloyd has news about a toddler who aspirated a metal screw. The child was taken in for what seemed like asthma symptoms, but an x-ray revealed the screw. The child is fine now, but it's a reminder to watch out for all those little things that end up in the carpet, couch cushions and who knows where.

Little eyes see these things so much better, and no wonder -- they spend so much of their time a foot or two away from the floor. It's a good practice to get down on your hands and knees after sweeping or running the vacuum to make sure you didn't miss anything small enough to be choked on or inhaled by your child.
