Sydney's 9 Months Old

Tuesday July 18, 2006
Sydney had a great 9 month check-up, but Kimber's having issues with child care again. Her mother-in-law had been caring for Sydney two days a week and then the other three days were spent with a friend's nanny. Now, her mother-in-law has taken a full-time job so Kimber's looking for a provider, but isn't having much luck. She encountered one of those make-or-break moments during the interview and wrote:
I have interviewed one woman who wanted to keep her in her home and nixed that about five minutes into the interview. Her 3-year-old was screaming for her bottle. When she looked at me all embarrassed, she tried to explain that she just 'plays with it' and it's 'no big deal.' While filling it up, the little girl screams, 'Why are you putting water in it? I hate water!' So, when she came into the living room with it, I noticed that it was COKE in the bottle and she was sucking on it like there was no tomorrow.

Having worked in the field myself, I know how hard it can be to find the right fit for your child. And that's even before you even take financial matters into account. Take the poll and let other parents know where they are on the scale... How hard has it been for you to find a good child care solution?
