Consumer Reports Withdraws Car Seat Report

Saturday January 20, 2007
After releasing a report that sent parents everywhere into a state of panic and confusion about the safety of their infant car seats, the study that was the focus of the report is now being recalled.

As many groups suspected, there were possible errors in the way the tests in the study were conducted and reported. Consumer Union (publisher of Consumer Reports) is looking into the matter and plans to rerelease the study later.

For more on this, turn to Baby Products Guide and certified child passenger safety technician, Heather Corley. Her concern:

"Unfortunately, the incorrect information has already been widely publicized, and the damage will be difficult, if not impossible, to undo. I urge parents to remember that using your baby's car seat properly is the best way to keep your baby safe on the road."
