Evenflo Recalls Embrace Infant Car Seat and Carrier

Thursday May 10, 2007
Emphasis on the carrier part, there.

There have been 679 reports (with 160 injuries) of the handle releasing and the seat rotating forward enough for babies to fall out when the seat was being used as a carrier. That's a lot of reports, and I'm surprised this recall hasn't come sooner.

The seats being recalled were all made before April 8, 2006, and include the following model numbers: 317, 320, 397, 398, 540, 548, 549, 550, 556, 597, 598 or 599. If this is your seat, head to the Evenflo site and a repair kit will be sent to you. In the meantime, Evenflo is assuring parents that the seat is safe to use in your car -- just don't use it as a carrier until you've made the necessary repairs.

The FALCON Infant Car Seat Carrier

This unique and innovative transport device takes the stress out of the awkward handle and its joints. The Strap allows the user to carry the infant Hands Free. The infant still maintains eye contact with the user, and may be caressed while in front of the user. If the infant were bottle feeding during the time of use, no need to prop up, the user may position or hold the bottle with one hand and lightly caress with the other. Entry into doorways are much easier now that both hands are free.

The FALCON Infant Car Seat Carrier was designed to Free up the Hands, while allowing the user to walk in an upright position. We know how awkward a car seat that is being lugged by our side or in our elbow joint can be. It is great for day care trips, trips to the supermarket, restaurant, or while visiting family.
The dreaded hand carry has now been taken out of play. Additionally, the need to go to the trunk, remove the stroller, then take out the car seat and place it in the stroller, with a reverse repeat upon return to the car, has also been replaced for short trips.

With the FALCON Infant Car Seat Carrier, the hand of a toddler may be held with more confidence and control while in use. Carrying a purse and or diaper bag is now much easier and no more setting down the car seat.
