Similac Special Care Formula Recalled

Saturday May 26, 2007
This formula is not something you will find on your grocer's shelves, but if you have a preemie, your doctor may have prescribed this formula to you upon discharge.

The 2 ounce, ready-to-feed bottles are being recalled because the formula has less iron than is necessary and long-term use (longer than 1 month) could lead to anemia.

Contact Abbott at 1-888-899-9182 for a free replacement if you find lot numbers 46815D5, 47847D5 or 52023D5 on the carton or lot numbers 44427X8, 44427X81 or 50005X8 on the bottoms of the bottles. In addition, it's probably wise to contact your health care provider if you have been using it to make sure all is well with your baby's health.
