Dental Tips for Toddlers
Saturday October 27, 2007
I never understood why Dental Health month is in February. I think it should be in November.
Sure, there's a lot of candy then for Valentine's Day, but Halloween -- it's like a whole year's worth of candy all bagged up in just one day.
This is why you should use this sugar-laden time as an opportunity to teach your toddler healthy toothbrushing habits. Even baby teeth need care and you can start as soon as your baby's first tooth arrives.

I gave my daughter (Now two) her first tooth brush when she was teething. That was my “trick” when she was in pain. I kept a new up to date one in her toy box for play, with a back up in the bathroom. When she turned two, I gave her a vibrating, rotating kids brush with pooh on the handle. She “brushes” her teeth several times a day along with every baby, teddy bear, and stuffed thing she owns. It is cute watching her brush her babies teeth. She says she needs to keep her babies clean too.
Making a game out of it, and having a tooth brush handy from the beginning made the brushing task a “No problem” issue.
