Cutting Out Sugary Cereal

Sunday March 30, 2008
I saw a great idea at Parent Hacks. (No surprise, there.) It's kind of like what I did when I was switching to decaf coffee to avoid caffeine withdrawal. (Oh, those evil caffeine headaches. Ugh.) The premise is that you mix a little in with the regular stuff at first until one day you're drinking nothing but decaf.

Same thing here, except with sugary breakfast cereal. Some of the ideas included mixing corn flakes with frosted flakes, regular rice crisps with cocoa crisps and even flavored oatmeals with the regular stuff. I think this is a great idea for both weaning your kids off the stuff completely and for those parents who don't mind giving their kids sweet cereal but want to reduce the amount of sugar instead of cut it out completely.
