How Are You Celebrating Halloween?
And I'm wondering how folks with little ones are celebrating this year. I remember when I was a kid there was the big razor blade in the caramel apple scare that turned Halloweens into a totally different affair. This will be the fourth Halloween celebrated in my current home and the past three yielded exactly zero trick-or-treaters. With very little ones, going door-to-door has little appeal to me past the showing-off-my-adorably-decorated-baby factor. If you've got older siblings, I can see the draw, but not when it's your first. What do you guys think? Do you enjoy that or would you rather celebrate at church or another organized event? (If you do head out, be sure to follow these Halloween safety guidelines.)
And finally, after you're home and you've got all those yummy candy and treats to enjoy, don't forget about your child's teeth. I don't mean to be Debbie Downer here, but this is the perfect opportunity to teach your child healthy dental habits. Even that very first baby tooth needs care.

Just wanted to say thanks for all of the great articles!
We’ve been in our house for 6yrs now and have never had a trick or treater. Its kind of sad. I think its b/c we’re the end house on the road and the roads by us have no sidewalks - I wouldn’t want to walk them by night.
We get few trick or treaters; not like I remember it when I was a kid! Our daughter is two, and I think we will be taking her over to the Mall of America– I think she’ll get more out of that than going door to door. As for the candy she gets, well, I think mom might be enjoying the majority of it! : )
I’m taking my daughter trick or treating. She will only be 11 months, so I am going to donate the candy to sun youth along with other foods.
My daughter is 17 months. I am hosting a Halloween Discovery Toys Play-date. Adults are dresssing in halloween colors, todlers will wear their costumes, todlers will enjoy playing with all the toys while moms socialize & I’m providing lunch, snacks & refreshments for all.
