Dry Max Diaper Rash Investigation Yields No Cause

From Stephanie Brown, About.com Guide   September 2, 2010

Yet, that is. The Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada are looking into reports from parents of rashes possibly caused by Pampers Dry Max Diapers. Some parents said the rashes were so bad they blistered and looked more like burns than simple diaper rash. The CPSC has received 4,700 reports of these rashes over the last five months. They're looking into how the diapers are made, what they're made of and how much heat and moisture they may be trapping against a baby or toddler's skin. They're looking at toxicology data and an irritation study from Proctor and Gamble.

What they're finding is, thus far, not much. They can't find anything specific that links the diapers with the reported rashes. They're not ruling anything out (especially for kids with sensitive skin), but they're not ruling anything in, either. The investigation will continue and they still want to hear from parents who have had rash issues or any other issues with this diaper. If you're in the United States, access the CPSC form here and if you're in Canada, visit Health Canada's form. In addition, make sure you talk to your health care provider about your child's rash if you feel it was caused by this diaper. Maybe having this rash on more radars will help bring about some resolution.
