For many toddlers, this Halloween was the first time that chocolate crossed their lips. Some children react pretty strongly one way or the other. My son didn't really like it at first and preferred fruit over candy for a sweet fix until about kindergarten. (Then he was still all about the Sour Patch Kids rather than chocolate!)

One reader shared the story of her grandson:

"My grandson has learned to say 'chocolate' very quickly and he asks for chocolate every other day or so, but he does not like to share. Grandpa and I sat with him today and tried to all have a small piece of chocolate together but even though Ryan got his first he gave us unpleasant stares while we ate ours. He wanted it all to himself!"

If this year was your toddler's first chocolate experience, share what it was like. What did you let him have first and how did he react?
