My 4 year old was in the other room yesterday and I called him repeatedly. He never came. I finally stomped into the living room and demanded to know why he hadn't responded. "But name is Luke (as in Luke Skywalker) he explained.

My 1-year-old is just starting to show signs of this same imaginative tendencies. He'll spend long stretches engrossed in his train city and LEGO Duplo worlds. He loves capes and masks, and joining in his older sister's tea parties. Welcome to the world of dramatic play. With a few select toys and lots of patience and encouragement, I know he'll continue to enjoy his make-believe games...and I'll enjoy hours of laughs and smiles and get great photos as he runs through the house pretending something new every day.
