Get Out of the House

Thursday July 14, 2005
Research from the Dimensions Educational Research Foundation indicates that kids benefit from getting outside and interacting with the environment. According to the foundation, children are more fit, creative and observant when they spend time outside. They also have the heightened ability to concentrate, which is especially important for children with ADD.

The folks at the Arbor Day Foundation have devised a program to help kids get out and be a part of nature (and away from TV, video games and the Internet). It costs US $20, but before you buy you can download a sample activity and see if it meets the approval of you, your family and your pocketbook.

Other Outdoor Activities to Try:
Go Swimming
Grow a Salsa Garden
Pick Some Strawberries
Make Mudpies
Grow a Sunflower
Take a Walk
Have a Picnic
Play with Sand
Hit the Beach
Watch the Sky
Go Camping
