Diaper Changing Tips from Tom

Wednesday September 28, 2005
Thanks to Tom for sending me this e-mail, outlining some tips I may have left out of my "How To Change a Diaper" article:
    "Stephanie,

A co-worker e-mailed me a link to your article on diaper changing after word spread of the debacle of my first changing experience. Part way through step 3, I managed to throw up on the baby, myself, and the new carpet before mom arrived to save the day. I thought you might want to add a few more tips to step 3.

3a. The diaper tabs are stickers that peel off -- don' t look for or be concerned about being stabbed by pins.

3b. Don't look at anything under the diaper too closely unless you're prepared to see whatever your baby had for dinner last night in a slightly different form.

3c. Take a deep breath before removing the diaper. There won't be any oxygen available for 30 seconds after it's removed.

3d. Make sure your wife is nearby, in case things start to unravel quickly

    Best Regards,
    Tom"

Thanks so much for writing Tom. We're all pulling for you. Try breathing through your mouth or maybe putting a clothespin over your nose. If anyone has any other suggestions that might help Tom or other diaper change-challenged parents, drop me an e-mail.
