Preventing Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

Monday February 20, 2006
The winter has been mild in most areas of the United States, but lately, there's been a chill in the air. New York and other states were hit with snow. The North is seeing temperatures more like "normal" and even states (like my state -- Texas) that rarely see much frosty action have been hit with the Brrrrrrrr stick.

Another issue -- those rising heating costs. My house is heated with natural gas, so last month's heating bill was a bit of a shock. I contemplated going into an all-out baking frenzy to keep the house warm this weekend. This is OK since I have an electric stove, but did you know that if you have a gas stove it's not safe to use it constantly like you would if you were trying to heat your home? It can deplete the oxygen in your house and cause carbon monoxide poisoning.

With all those home fires burning lately, find out if you should be worried about carbon monoxide poisoning and learn what to do to prevent it.

Your readers may like to be linked to my brand new website where I have written some delightful poems about babies, amongst my many other poems. They are: Baby, you’re beautiful, Child of the Summer Sun and Winter-born Baby. They are amongst 80 poems I have written, many for children. The older children will be captivated by them, and they are all my own work, and read to the children of our town regularly. Josie Whitehead
