Funny Stuff: Do You Wear Mom Jeans?
It took me a while to make the transition from those jeans to the newer "dangerously low" versions. Still mine aren't all that dangerous, but you can at least tell I have a belly button now.
After seeing this Saturday Night Live skit about Mom Jeans, I'm so glad I made the switch before I became an object of ridicule. I look back at pictures of me in the '80s and early '90s and I can hardly believe it. My question is, how come jeans aren't any cheaper now that they aren't using all that fabric to cover the entire female torso?
What about you? Take our poll and let us know if you wear jeans with a high waist or low:

How funny! I’ve have both in my closet and still like the ‘feel’ of the mom jeans better. Guess I’m old
Mom jeans all the way! FYI, I’m not a mom, I’m only 24, and I’m not fat or anything. I love Lee’s relaxed fit high rise jeans and even have a pair of their high waist ones with side elastic. I get lots of teasing from friends but they just don’t know how comfy they are!! An added plus is that I can wear hi-cut or brief panties and not have them stick out.
I have in-between jeans, but low-rise capris. I hate the way the low rise makes my un-toned (not fat, just a little flabby from pregnancy) tummy bulge over. Besides, the stretch marks that pregnancy blessed me with are there for all to see when wearing low-rise. So, I can wear mid-rise w/a “cool” smaller shirt, or low-rise w/a very long shirt covering my belly. What’s the point?
The SNL skit was hilarious! I remember watching it,and laughing hysterically because I do remember them.. However I will not wear a high waisted jean now..(I did before late 80’s - early 90’s)…but I like it right under my belly button…not right above my continental divide…
What happened to growing up and wearing adult clothing? Why should we have to dress like we are 18 when we are 40? When do I get to stop worrying about what I look like and concentrate on how I can make the world a better place? I think I shall burn all my jeans and wear nothing but gray and navy slacks. I don’t want to be hip. I want to be respected!
There are a lot of women out there who think that once they turn a certain age (over 30) that they need to lose any sense of being stylish. To Karen, I would say that being respected is certainly important! At the same time, you don’t have to sacrifice your style! I saw that Saturday Night Live Skit, and I think it is hilarious! I am in my late 20’s, and I will NEVER wear mom jeans, and my friends and I have sworn to each other that we will not let each other wear Mom Jeans! I think a woman can dress modestly yet be very stylish and sophisticated at the same time! You won’t find me in mom jeans! NO WAY!!!!!!! I won’t even wear them when I am in my 50’s!
