Wondering if Your Water Broke?

Friday October 26, 2007
AJ over at Thingamababy has found something interesting that I could have used when I was pregnant. I carried Jacob incredibly low and was always leaking something. I was so paranoid that it was my water leaking, so I made more than one trip to the doctor to have it checked out.

These doohickeys are like panty liners but they've got a pH testing strip inside to let you know if you're leaking amniotic fluid or if it's just a false alarm.

But beware, that if those are similar to the ph testing strips used in hospitals blood, or spotting can cause false positives….or it could be your bloody show immediately before labor.

I was pregnant with my daughter in 2005. I only wanted one child but went threw six miscarages before finding out this one was “healthy” with out any explination about the previously failed attempts, the doctors put me threw special testing threwout the months. I was very worried how I was going to tell when my “water” broke. I asked doctors, read books, asked fellow mothers and they all said the same thing, “You will just know.”

Half way threw my pregnancy, I had leakage with spotting blood. The problem corrected itself with bedrest and restrictions.

When I went into labor it was like a water balloon broke inside me and everyone was right, “I just knew.”

If there is any “leakage,” take advise from someone who lost many pregnancies, find a doctor that will return a call at any hour of the day or night with out hesitation. My doctors returned phone calls was the reason my daughter is with us today.
