Recalls this Week

Seriously though, one of the recalls is quite a shocker -- the Aqua Dots Art Set. It's got a chemical in it that turns into a date rape drug if ingested. Now, normally I wouldn't be too concerned about it here at Babies and Toddlers since it's for older kids (4+) but then there's always that issue of older siblings or cousins having the toy and the off chance that a younger child may come into contact with it. Case in point, one of the reported injuries involved a 20-month-old swallowing the beads, vomiting and then becoming comatose.
Another recall on this list that concerns me is the Hunter Humidifier. Water can leak into the electrical compartment and start a fire. It's prime time for colds, croop and flu and I know lots of us already have furnaces blaring and are using humidifiers. I've seen this one on shelves myself (they were there for nearly 2 years) so I know it's probably in a lot of homes.

Comments
This is awful - my daughter is 3, and I actually remember looking at the Aqua Dots in Target, but fortunately never purchased them. This worsening situation is frightening. Hopefully manufacturers will face stricter regulations in the future.
