Swimming Pool Safety

Saturday April 26, 2008
Today is just the kind of day that I love — it's a little rainy, a little cloudy and it's nice and cool. The last couple of weeks, however, have been filled with temperatures that were in the 80s. I'm already getting requests from my son for pool time. He even dug through his closet and found his favorite swimming mask and placed it prominently on the dining room table. A visual reminder for me, perhaps?

As you are getting ready for swim season, remember that drowning is a leading cause of death among children under 5 years of age. Do what you can to help prevent this by learning more about swimming pool safety and then take the quiz to test your knowledge.

i am very glad to see that swimming pool safety is starting to be brought up now that the weather is getting warmer. But please don’t forget about those people who live on lakes or rivers, like me. i hope those people aren’t overlooking the safety issues just because they don’t have a pool. we are currently checking out different alarms that will go off in the event that our 2 year old accidentally goes into the water. it is scarey to think that your child could drown in your own back yard.
