Definition: Proof that a school, provider or child care establishment has met an elevated set of criteria or standards set forth by an evaluating agency or organization in the field. Should not be confused with licensure, which is generally carried out at the local level by a governmental agency, and whose standards may be much lower.
Examples:
Our son's child care center went through the accreditation process last year.
