The Bottom Line

These blankets are just what creator Rachel Lyons says they are: unique, luxurious, chic and stylish. Your child won't want to be without it and friends (as well as complete strangers) will want to know where you got this beautiful blanket. Plan to be bombarded by oohs and ahs if you give this blanket as a shower gift. Beautiful as they may be, I did experience some problems after machine washing, so recommend hand washing instead.

Guide Review - Blankets and Silkies by Cutie Petutie Originals

These blankets are so soft, I could barely put them down. They are soft and fluffy on one side and silky smooth on the other: A texture feast for any baby or toddler. And the mix-and-match of materials that Lyons uses is aesthetically pleasing for style-minded parents.

If your baby gets hooked and you don't want to take a large (30 x 25 inch) blanket out and about or see it dragged around the house, you can get a matching silky. These silkies measure just 14 x 14 inches. (I would suggest sending one with your child if they are in daycare for a little naptime luxury, or keep one in the car.)

One problem I did come across was during washing. The instructions called for machine washing on cold in the gentle cycle with fluff drying. When I did this, the rose pattern on the fluffy side of the blanket disappeared and I noticed this side wasn't as soft afterward. In addition, one of the seams came apart after about a dozen washes. It was easily repaired, but a bit premature for a seam to come loose in this manner. I decided to exclusively hand wash and fluff dry the silky and experienced none of those problems -- it's still as soft as it was brand new with seams intact after 50+ washes. So I would definitely recommend hand washing so this blanket loses none of its beauty or feel.
