It's made with high contrast, color beads of varying shapes and sized and it's just the right size (34 inches) for your baby to reach while breastfeeding.
The necklace is double stranded on durable cord and frequently knotted to prevent breaking. I did manage to break the necklace, but it took the strength of myself and a friend. We wrapped the necklace around a tree branch and, with both of us wearing work gloves and pulling like crazy, finally managed to snap it. So, while it may be true that your baby can pull and break a delicate gold chain in no time flat, he's not going to be breaking this necklace any time soon.
Just remember that it's meant to be worn by mom (not baby) and don't wear it if you plan on falling asleep with your baby since the length could pose a strangulation hazard.
You can have the necklace customized to include a saying or your baby's name and you can also choose to include a strong closure or vary the length (though neither of the latter two will probably be necessary.)
