Do you have any of these unsafe items in your home? Do you know anyone who does? All of these items have been recalled this year because they are dangerous to your children or your family. If you see something you own, stop using it immediately. Most companies offer free repair kits or replacements and many will give you a full refund.

These coats were sold at babyGap and other Gap stores from Oct. 2008 through April 2009 and cost between $20-50. The toggle fasteners can come off and pose a choking hazard to children. Several coats in infant through 24 month sizes are included in this recall:

Blue Plaid and Mojave Toggle Coat - style 600942

These maracas have a handle that can pose a suffocation hazard and if it breaks, small parts inside can cause choking. There have been two reports of the toy breaking but no injuries. They were sold in the Tupperware catalogs of Holiday 2007 and Spring 2008 and were priced at $5-11. You can return them to Tupperware (start by filling out a form on their site) to get a refund or a gift certificate.

These shoes have four wheels that can come off and cause choking. They were sold only at Walmart stores and came in infant and toddler sizes with the infant size having a strap in the back instead of a closed heel. The words "Buster Brown & Co." and "Disney" are printed on a tag inside the shoe. You can take them back to Walmart to get a full refund.

Simplicity Travel Tender Play Yards

These play yards are being recalled because the sides can drop unexpectedly and cause a fall or entrapment. The models affected are: 5500DRM, 5500WDS, 5500FEL, 5501FEL, 5502MON, 5520PRO, 5550HAN, 5700MAN, and 5750MIR. The company is no longer in business so consumers will need to contact the stores where the play yards were purchased for a refund or replacement:

Healthtex Zoo Pacifiers

These pacifiers have been recalled because the nipples can easily separate from the base and cause choking. The CPSC describes the pacifiers as, "zoo pacifiers with animal cartoon figures as handles. The pacifier has a round-shaped mouth guard with three ventilation holes. 'Made in Spain' is printed on the handle side of the mouth guard and 'Mi Tosoro' is printed on the cardboard packaging." The pacifiers were sold at supermarkets and drug stores from Dec. 2002 through March 2009. Contact Healthtex at 866-348-5080 for a full refund or exchange.

SunKids Convertible Cribs

These convertible cribs (model number PY256) have a couple of serious issues. There's a problem with the mesh that can cause gaps between the sides and any mattress where a child's head can become entrapped and they can suffocate and there's also a problem with the drop-side latch. No injuries have been reported with this crib, but a baby died in a crib with an almost identical design. You can call the company at 888-268-8139 but there is no repair kit available. Instead, the company recommends you return the crib to the store where you purchased it for a full refund.

You can call the company at 800-428-4414 or fill out a form on their Web site to get a free replacement butterfly. None of the other toys in the set are affected. Pistachios from Setton Pistachio of Terra Bella, Inc.

Much like the peanut and peanut butter recall, this is another nut recall involving salmonella that started out with just a few products and has expanded to include all pistachios from this company grown in 2008. The number of products being recalled that contain these pistachios is increasing every day and the FDA has set up another searchable database for consumers. Another group has set up a Web site that lists firms who are using potentially safe pistachios that don't come from Setton Pistachio of Terra Bella, Inc. So, if you have a product in question, you might check both places to be sure.
