Day 15 - - Have a Slumber Party

Summer Fun

By Stephanie Brown, About.com

If you haven't had a chance to make movie night a part of your family routine, the summer is a great time to start.

Gather up blankets or sleeping bags, cut up some fruit and other snacks (popcorn for the adults and older kids), and everyone can snuggle up while you watch a good movie or two. When the movie's over, don't worry about sending everyone off to bed, just keep the togetherness going and let everyone sleep right where they are until morning.

But it doesn't have to just be a nighttime affair - you can liven up the naptime routine by having a slumber party during nap. And don't be tempted to get some housework done or pay bills while your little one sleeps, take the time out and allow yourself a nap as well.

Movie Resources for Families:

  • Free Kids' Rentals at Blockbuster (all summer long!)
  • If you have an unlimited DVD account at Netflix you can also use the "Watch Now" feature for unlimited movies on your computer. They have lots of kid picks.
