Day 28 - - Watch the Sky

Summer Fun

By Stephanie Brown, About.com

No matter when it is, day or night - the sky has a lot to offer in the way of learning for your child. You can spend an afternoon spent relaxing on a blanket outside, watching the clouds and finding recognizable shapes. And you can do the same at night, tracing the constellations in the stars.

Before and after skywatching, read some of these board books with your baby or toddler to teach and reinforce concepts:

  • Little Cloud by Eric Carle
  • Papa, Please Get the Moon for Me by Eric Carle
  • Goodnight Moon by Margaret Wise Brown
  • Star Light, Star Bright from Lamaze
  • Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star by Iza Trapani
  • Cloud Counting by Dandi Daley Mackall
  • Good Night Sun, Hello Moon by Karen Viola
  • It Looked Like Spilt Milk by Charles G. Shaw
