How long have you been blogging?

Oh, about a month.

How do you feel your blog benefits other parents?

This is just a funny site where parents can identify with other parents and feel like they are not alone is saying crazy stuff to their kids.

Why I started my parenting blog

I'm a mother of 3 and say weird stuff to my kids all the time so I thought it would be fun to share some of my quotes, along with the stories explaining why I would ever say such a thing. Years ago, I was relating a funny story to my brother (kidless) and told him something I had said to my son and he thought it was great and suggested I keep a list of all the weird things that came out of my mouth. My list grew over the years and friends shared their quotes and my brother kept saying I should start a blog so one day last month I finally did. And it got picked up by the NY Times!

What I love / What I hate about blogging about family

I think it's important not to reveal too many personal details about my family online, like names, etc. So far I have loved all the comments and quotes from other parents and non-parents and the stories that they share. It also can take me a while to get something posted because I have three kids and it seems like I constantly get interrupted (as expected!). I also don't want my friends to watch what they say just in case they might read about it in the blog, but they have been really great and supportive.

Tips and Tricks

  • start with a clear answer to 'why' you are writing one
  • do some online research
  • make time to keep it updated
