Kudos to New Jersey Gov. Richard Codey for coming to his wife's defense when a DJ ridiculed her for having postpartum depression. According to USA Today, Craig Carton, the DJ, suggested that "women who suffer from postpartum depression should relax by smoking marijuana 'instead of putting their babies in the microwave.' "

The governor went to speak with Carton and told him he'd "take him outside" if he weren't the governor. This sparked a bit of a feud, but in the end, the New Jersey Assembly reprimanded Carton with a resolution and now the radio station must air public service announcements.

Codey's wife, Mary Jo, has long been outspoken about her postpartum depression and has received much support from the mental health community.
