Combi Car Seat Recall

Wednesday March 5, 2008
There's been a recall on the Combi Centre, Centre ARB, and Shuttle Rear Facing Infant Seats. This recall is a voluntary recall -- the seats still meet existing standards -- but under extreme lab tests (high impact frontal crash tests) the seats showed potential to separate from the base. These seats have been sold since 2005 and there have never been any injuries related to this. In fact, the company has never even received any reports of seat / base separation with real world use. As a precaution, the company is issuing this recall with the intent of making the seats even safer.

You can go to the Combi site and learn more about the recall (Click the red "Safety Notification" area at the lower left there) and find out how to get the repair kit. You can also call their customer service department at 1-800-543-7734.

I bought the Combi Connection carseat for my daughter in Feb. 08. It is one of the worst things I have ever purchased! It doesn’t connect to the base correctly. When I am driving down the road it will all of a sudden click in after I pushed and pulled it to click into the base before driving away. It is a major pain and I will never buy a Combi product again! It is so unsafe that we cannot use the base anymore, and we have only used this carseat for 5 months. It is horrible having 3 children and trying to get this carseat in by the seatbelt. I can never get anywhere quickly!
