Infant Formula Recalled After Infants Die
Saturday November 15, 2003
According to CNN, infant formula manufacturer Humana has recalled it's Remedia brand formula after 20 infants were hospitalized and three died. The infants reportedly died due to a disease called beriberi, which stems from a lack of Vitamin B1. While Vitamin B1 was listed as an ingredient, it was not actually present in the formula. American Company H.J. Heinz Co. owns 51 percent of Remedia.
