Healing Diaper Rash

By Stephanie Brown, About.com

While there are many commercially prepared ointments and creams available for diaper rashes, there is one method that is tried, true and as free as the air you breathe.

Actually, it is the air you breathe! One of the main causes of diaper rash is lack of air circulating around your infant's bottom. You can remedy this by letting her go dry, clean and diaperless several times a day after a rash appears.

First make sure the room is warm enough, then lay down a waterproof tablecloth or matress cover on the floor. Cover this with a soft, washable blanket and let baby play for about half an hour.

Do this a few times a day for three to five days to help speed healing.
