cafe au lait spots

By Stephanie Brown, About.com

Definition: These are patches of skin that are irregularly shaped, flat and darker than the surrounding skin. They are usually a tan color, the color of coffee with cream.

These spots sometimes indicate other disorders, such as neurofribromatosis. As many as one in five children have these marks, however, with no other related health issues.
