Get Telemarketers To Stop Calling You

By , About.com Guide

Do Not Call Logo

Busy parents don't have time for telemarketers. If you've ever been interrupted by these annoying calls during dinner, diaper changes or precious naps, it's time for you to get registered on the Do Not Call list.

To register, go to the National Do Not Call Registry Web site and enter your phone number(s) and e-mail address. You will receive an e-mail to verify your registration. Be sure to click the link in that e-mail or your registration will not go into effect.

If you do not receive the mail, check your spam filters and make sure that mail from Register@donotcall.gov can come through.

Once you get on the registry, it will take about 30 days for the marketing calls to stop. Your registration will last for five years.

If you're getting marketing calls on your cell phone, you can register that number as well.

There is no charge for this service and there is no time limit placed on when you can register.

Once 30 days has passed, if you are still getting calls from telemarketers, you can file a complaint.

Do you have a tip you'd like to share with other parents? You can send your tips to me at babyparenting.guide@about.com and I will publish them here on the site.
