Smoothies are a nutritious alternative to many of the sweet frozen treats children typically enjoy in the summer. And even babies love smoothies. This recipe for a Carrot-Banana Smoothie is appropriate if your baby is already eating table foods (usually around 9 - 10 months).

For more variety, or if you have older children, check out these smoothie recipes.

As always, when making blended beverages with fruits and vegetables, make sure you check that there are no chunky pieces your child could choke on. Hopefully the need will never arise, but just in case, here are some tips on how to deal with choking in infants and children and adults.
